Unmolassed Sugar Beet Flakes

A low sugar, low starch highly digestible fibre source suitable for a range of horses and ponies in light to hard work.

Can be used as a partial hay replacement.

Feeding Rate
Adjust feeding rate according to workload and body condition. Always feed a minimum of 1.5 kg forage per 100 kg of bodyweight per day.

Fibre sources used in our feeds can change, depending on the time of year and seasonal conditions. Therefore our feeds may also change in appearance. This is the nature of fibre crops and does not affect the overall nutritional value of the feed.

Our unmolassed Sugar Beet Flakes contain high levels of soluble fibre, including pectins, which are highly fermentable and are therefore, known as ‘superfibres’. These ‘superfibres’ are a great source of slow release energy.

As the flakes are unmolassed, they contain very low amounts of sugar and significantly, the starch content is negligible. As a result, these flakes represent a great way to deliver additional fibre to any horse or pony’s ration, especially those suffering from clinical nutritional diseases (such as PPID / Cushing’s Disease, EMS or laminitis) or those on a calorie controlled ration.

Top Tip!
Always soak our unmolassed sugar beet flakes before feeding. Ideally, add 1 part dry flakes to 5 parts water by weight. However, our unmolassed sugar beet flakes can soak up to at least seven times their own weight of water. The final mix will be ‘sloppy’, but this is a great method of getting extra water into your horse (particularly, if they are reluctant to drink).
